1) Exit Gmail.
2) Go to Start -> Run, and enter this command: “%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Talk Plugin” (note: this is for XP, the path may be slightly different on Vista)
3) An Explorer window will open. Delete the file “googletalkplugin_port”.
4) Log back into Gmail.
